Wildlife Heroes

Personal Protective Equipment Grant Round

The Wildlife Heroes Project is managed by the Foundation for National Parks & Wildlife with funding from the New South Wales Government through its Environmental Trust.

Wildlife rehabilitation volunteers devote a large part of their lives to rescuing and rehabilitating sick and injured wildlife. This is usually done at their own expense. Wildlife Heroes is proud to announce its latest grant round aimed at relieving financial demands and keeping volunteers safe while performing their important work.

Grants of up to $4,000 will be available to eligible, licensed wildlife rehabilitators from NSW to cover the costs of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) used while rescuing and rehabilitating wildlife. Maximum funding per wildlife rehabilitation group will be dependent on each group’s membership numbers.

The round aims to achieve the following outcomes:

  • Mitigate against some safety issues that wildlife volunteers are exposed to
  • Ensure wildlife volunteers have access to basic PPE without using personal funds
  • Improve wildlife volunteer peace of mind and well-being

The grant round is an initiative of the NSW Volunteer Wildlife Rehabilitation Sector Strategy and part of the Wildlife Heroes, Caring for Carers campaign.

The grant round will be open from 26 May until 11:59pm 26 June 2023. For more information and to check eligibility criteria, go to: https://wildlifeheroes.org.au/nsw-wildlife-heroes/
