Bringing Back Subtropical Rainforest on private lands around Nightcap National Park
The best time to plant a tree was 20 years ago. The second best time is now. With the support of the Foundation for National Parks & Wildlife Bushfire Recovery Restoration Grants, Whian Whian Landcare planted the foundations for future subtropical rainforest with more that 1500 new trees in the ground including over 40 species across 3 properties. A dozen Whian Whian Landcare volunteers rolled up their sleeves and made the best of the tail end of La Nina for planting. Trees are protected through their infancy with mulch and guards and will be tended with watering through the drier season to come. Looking forward to enjoying the shade of these trees in 20 years time!
